Train – 23.3kg of carbon per passenger
We encourage participants to get the train to reduce the environmental impact of the trip. The best route is to go from London St Pancras to Paris Gare de Nord. Then transfer to Gare the Lyon and get the train to Thonon les Bain via Bellegarde. We can then collect you from Thonon les Bain. Please speak to us for advice on getting the train. To help encourage train travel we offer a £50 discount for anyone taking the train
Flights – 194kg of Carbon per passenger
The closest airport is Geneva which is 1 hour 20 minutes from Morzine. We arrange transfers from here as below. We allocate £30 per booking to local environmental organisations for booking with flights.
Transfers
We arrange transfers with Skiidy Gonzales (Skiidy) which is the largest and most reputable transport company in Morzine.
These will be on a Skiidy shared transfer service that serves your flight. You will need to book a flight that lands between 10:00 and 16:00 on the Sunday. Full instructions will be given on how to find the Skiidy desk which is situated metres from where you enter arrivals. BeVenturesome will be on the phone and WhatsApp all day to help with anything, as will Skiidy. Once at the Skiidy desk you will wait for the next transfer and will be escorted to the vehicle with Skiidy and then dropped right at our accommodation where you will be met by a BeVenturesome representative.
All residentials start with dinner at 19:30 on the Sunday night and finish with breakfast on the Friday morning.
The transfer to Geneva Airport on the Friday will arrive at the airport at 11:00 so you will need to book a flight that departs after 13:00.
The accommodation will either be in our Centre de Vacances (more info here.) or in a private chalet. This depends on the final numbers. All accommodation will be to a high standard. All food is included.
Sunday – Arrive and settle in to accommodation by 19:30. Dinner. Briefings on behaviour, safety, safeguarding, accommodation. Familiarisation & introductions.
Monday to Thursday – Rock climbing, kayaking, via ferrata, canyoning, whitewater rafting, swimming, time in Morzine, trips up a chair lift, high ropes and various ‘Future Proof Skills’ workshops during the week.
Friday – Travel day. Depart accommodation at about 09:00
Financial: BeVenturesome is a registered Tour Operator. Funds are kept in a travel trust account with Protected Trust Services
Pastoral Care: We have a comprehensive safeguarding and pastoral care programme to ensure all participants are well looked after during their trip.
Activities: All activities are Risk Assessed and run by fully qualified guides.
We are hyper conscious of the impact of the emissions of the flights from our trips. We’re on a big campaign to get as many groups to get the train to the Alps as possible and we are pleased to say we have about 200 pupils getting the train to the Alps this year, which is a great start.
BLOG: Our biggest challenge: Slow down and vote with your bum..
We offer a £50 discount to any participant who gets the trains.
We will donate £30 for every participant to local environmental organisations – Montagne Verte
