We ran an Adventure Holiday Club for Ballard School in the May half term and it went down do well we repeated it in the summer holidays. They met us in the New Forest each morning and we took it from there. ‘Forest Roaming’ is a combination of hiking, playing, exploring, learning and connecting to nature. No 2 days are the same, even if the plan is the same!
Activities include: hikes, navigation, scavenger hunts, tracking tree ID, animal ID, den building, swing building, ladder building, knot tying, hammocks, tarpaulins, forest bathing, exploring, and a plethora of forest games.
To round off Marymount’s Expedition Training Course which mostly took place in the Surrey Hills we organised a day hike on the South Downs way which they planned themselves. It was a fantastic achievement for the girls and rounded off a wonderful course.
Have you ever thought about paddle boarding in your pool for an Onsite Activity Day ? You’d be surprised about what a fantastic session it makes and how well received it is by the pupils.
Are you using you local woodland to its full potential? We gave each year group at Davenies a quality day in the woods together. Games, nature time, adventure skills and fresh air. Lovely.
Have your explored the Surrey Hills? For York House’s School Residential Alternative we explored ancient gun powder mills, hill-top churches, vineyards, gin distillery’s, magical yew trees, spectacular geology all while learning to pay attention to what’s around us.
As a finale for their Residential Alternative we let the pupil plan their own day. We met on the top of the North Down Way, split into groups, handed out maps and headed out for the day. Giving pupils the chance to make decisions is a crucial part of adventure education.
We made use of Royal Masonic School’s fantastic grounds to deliver a 2 day Year Group Bonding programme. Here are the team building challenges. We also used their forest school area to deliver some bushcraft.
So, here is something we can’t promise for every group but we managed to secure Ross from Surrey Wildlife Trust to deliver a Surrey Hills Wildlife Safari as part of one of our Adventure Education Programmes. If it’s boring, dry, dull content delivered with no enthusiasm and no passion you’re after, then you won’t enjoy one of Ross’s tours. More HERE.
