Exciting changes to the Gold Residential requirements are here, and we’re ready to show you how our our Gold Residentials in the Alps continue to meet and exceed them!
They can affect your choice of residential so check them out…
Requirement 1
Participants must be away from home for a minimum of five days and four nights. These should be consecutive but can be split into two blocks within 12 months.
Our application
We don’t offer a split course and our trips are 5 nights long ensuring you get the most of your your trip.
Requirement 2
Participants should be in an unfamiliar residential setting.
Our Application
Absolutely, Morzine offers a truly unfamiliar and exciting residential setting
Requirement 3
Participants must stay in shared accommodation with their group for the entire residential. This should not include staying with friends or relatives.
Our Application
We stay in the wonderful Chalet St Marie all together. Rooms are generally twins of the same gender. We have a designated safeguarding officer and lots of safeguarding policies in place to keep everyone comfortable.
Requirement 4
Shared activities should take place during the day and the evening and must be purposeful, group-based, and unpaid. These may include training courses, environment and conservation projects, volunteering or be activity-based.

Our program is rich in purposeful, group-based activities, combining thrilling adventures with valuable leadership and environmental awareness training ensuring you get maximum value out of your residential.
Requirement 5
The majority of participants should be unknown to each other.
Impact
The new guidelines allow for up to 50% of participants to know each other. While this offers more flexibility, it’s crucial to remember the core ethos of the DofE Gold Residential: to step outside your comfort zone, meet new people, and build lasting connections. Therefore, coming as a large group of friends is discouraged.
We understand that traveling abroad can be daunting, and we welcome participants who wish to travel with one or two friends. We will ensure that you are integrated into the wider group through diverse activities and room arrangements. Our goal is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable and can make new friends. Rest assured, we meet you at Geneva Airport, providing a friendly and reassuring start to your adventure.

Groups should have at least five people, including the participant.

We will have at least 5 in each group.
Requirement 7
The majority of staff should be unknown to participants.

Participants should research suitable activities, discuss their interests with their DofE Leader, and follow any pre-activity instructions.
Our Application
If you’ve arrived at this page then we might presume your interested in an adventurous residential! We specialize in bringing large school groups to Morzine for adventure activities from ages 11 and up so well practiced is adapting activities for a range of people. Our activities do involve exposure to height which you should be aware of. That’s not to say if you’re scared of heights it’s not for you – we’re all a bit scared of heights and helping you to overcome that fear is what we are all about. If you don’t do a particular activity or part of an activity due to this, this does not mean you won’t pass your residential. It’s all about pushing your personal comfort zone. Flexibilities are available to ensure that participants with specific individual needs can access a residential.
