Our trips are action packed. Pupils have often been whitewater rafting before checking into their accommodation. We love it this way. It’s what we do best.
However, on a few occasions we spend a few minutes getting the kids to relax, shut their eyes, check with themselves and soak up the area they are in.
In hindsight, prompted by reading “Listening to birds in nature found to be more calming than a meditation app” by earth.com this morning, I don’t think we did this any where near enough. We certainly want to do it more next year.
We are toying with the idea of introducing morning meditation sessions for pupils but maybe we just need to get them to listen to the birds!
On the other hand, I can’t help but think that just having a smart phone with you while you mediate reduces the effectiveness!
