Why Morzine for your School Trip

The journey to find the best possible location for adventure-fuelled schools trips started back in 2014. I was on holiday at the time in Val D’Isere with my better half who happens to be a teacher. We were both rather stunned by just how exciting it would be to bring young adventurers to an Alpine ski resort in the Summer. Since then we have run several trips with schools and scoured the Alps to find the resort that worked the best.
I had trouble narrowing down the resorts but here is why we have settled on Morzine.

Location

Morzine is only 1 hour 30 minutes from Geneva Airport making Monday to Friday trips very feasible.

It’s also a lot closer (and better!) than the South of France

Chair Lifts

If you come from mid-June onwards there are many chair lifts open for pedestrians and mountain bikers, which is a rather great way to see the mountains.

Morzine in SummerAccommodation

Morzine is geared up to accommodate groups of school children. We partner with several providers who specialise in high quality group accommodation for school groups.

Weather

With an average temperature of 21 degrees in July you can’t really complain: pleasantly warm but not too hot for activities

Town Centre

Morzine town has a wonderful collection of shops and restaurants and is lively enough to make a great afternoon for school groups not too busy and hectic.

Proximity of Activities

Geography does not always lend itself to making life easy for Adventure activities but it has been very kind to Morzine…

Distances from your accommodation:

  • Trekking – 20 minute walk to chair lifts. 10 to 15 minute drive to start of several amazing walks
  • White water rafting – 30 minute drive away
  • Paddle Sports – 6 minute drive or a lovely hour or so walk
  • Climbing – 7 minute drive
  • Walks – Wander right out the door and down to the river.
  • Canyoning – 8 minute drive
  • High Ropes – 8 minute drive or 10 minute walk

Suitability of Activities

It’s all well and good having such incredible activities on your doorstep but they need to be suitable for school groups.
We choose activities based on the following criteria:-

  • Challenging for pupils
  • Ability to stop the activity at any time should anyone want/ need to
  • Ease of adapting them to different abilities.

Morzine ticks all the boxes

Swimming Pool

It has a spectacular Swimming pool…

Sports Facilities

Not only are the adventure activities amazing, Morzine also has a selection of tennis courts, fitness facilities, basket ball courts and football pitches

A River

Every place should have a river running through it! There are even exercise stations every so often, making it ideal for early morning jogs with kids – trust us – we’ll happily go jogging with any pupils (and staff!) that are up for it before breakfast.
